As I’ve said before, I’m a high school student. And it’s that time of the year again; time to register for our next year courses. It’s way different from middle school – a lot more choices, and a lot more important decisions. The classes I take next year could possibly leave a huge impact on my high school career, and maybe even beyond.

When  I consulted with some friends what classes I should register for next year, one of them said to me: “Just do anything, it’ll just turn out one way or other!” Usually, that’s my philosophy on life. Just go with the flow! But in this situation, I think it’s different. In my opinion, choosing classes in high school is probably a decision that affects you forever. Depending on what classes you’ll take, you’ll probably get to develop different interests. As you further discover those different interests, that’s probably the thing that you’ll major in college, and your job will probably be based on that area of expertise. Maybe I’m taking this a bit too far, but I’m confident that class registrations is something not to be taken lightly.

Thus, the quote. I’m interested in the future, and this time I just won’t ‘go with the flow’. I’m going to decide for myself what the future for me holds. Because I’m going to live in it.

BTW, that’s an original picture made by me. 🙂 Click on the pic for a larger view !

I came across an interesting link today. http://youalreadyhavetheanswers.wordpress.com/ From here, you can download a PDF that has one quote and question for a day. Sometimes I’ll get my quotes from this nifty packet. Here’s the one for March 8:

“Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash.”  -George S. Patton

Question: When do you decide the cost is worth the risk?

Before writing an answer to this question, I had to really think about it… And I finally came to the conclusion that you must decide when the cost is worth the risk by asking yourself, how often does this risk come along. If there is a chance that you could take the same risk another time, maybe when you’re more prepared so it wouldn’t have to be a risk, you should wait. Until you are totally ready to face it. But if the risk is a totally once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that may never, ever be given to you again, then you should definitely take it, without any hesitation or regrets, no matter what the costs are.

My little blurb on the quote/question of the day! What do you think?

A Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quote.

I’ve heard people say things like… ‘Lean more about yourself” or ‘Get to know yourself before you to learn about others’ but I disagree. What I agree with is this quote!

People are always changing. Including yourself. Even if you don’t realize it, you’re doing it everyday! If I were to define myself, it would change from day to day. Recently, a friend of mine told me that I was really unique, and that he had never seen anybody like me. That was actually a surprise to me because I’ve never thought of myself as anything besides ordinary! It made me realize that maybe I don’t know myself as well as I should… Then, I found this quote. We don’t need to know ourselves. All we need to know is where we’re going and what we want out of ourselves. Maybe that is like knowing yourself, but in a different way? That was really confusing. I hope I didn’t confuse you guys too much!

So… do you know yourself? I hate it when people ask me to ‘describe myself’ because I really don’t know how! I’m learning though 🙂

Just an interesting pic I found a few days ago that I wanted to share!

Actually a famous quote by Democritus!

Isn’t it… so true?

I mean our thoughts, and everything! It’s just opinion. The things that really exist are made up of atoms. Maybe atoms that represents our thoughts, or atoms that can represent our thoughts, but still atoms all the same. I was kind of struggling because of something somebody said that hurt me, but I realized… it’s all just opinion. It won’t matter if I don’t care. It’s not tangible, and I will not let myself be mentally hurt! Seems like I’m depressed all the time if you read this blog… Not the kind of message I was trying to get across!

Thanks for the wise quote Democritus!

I might’ve finally found a theme for my blog… Quotes. A weekly quote to represent how my life is going. Excited!
